DAIRY SCIENCE IN THE DIVISION OF
ANIMAL AND NUTRITIONAL SCIENCES

Formal Education:
Dairy Production, dairy processing and dairy products courses are supplemented by multidisciplinary courses (genetics, nutrition, physiology, production economics, farm management, agricultural mechanics and agronomy, etc.).

Informal Learning:
Dairy Science students have opportunities to learn current technology such as balancing dairy rations and setting up budgets using computer programs and to assist dairy research studies.

Activities:

Dairy Club
Block & Bridle Club
Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Team

Career Options:

While in college, students are encouraged to work in dairy related jobs to prepare them for careers in dairy farm management, dairy food processing, extension, research, teaching or other dairy specialty fields. Graduates also are prepared for further training in diverse areas in the health sciences (medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, veterinary medicine) and graduate school.
